This week we will be releasing our Fall Fashion Guide by Body Type and hosting an INSIDERS try-on session with some Fall Fashion trends. It's one of my favorite weeks of the year because of the change of the season AND lots of new things to look at and evaluate (and try-on). It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement of "new" that we can forget to make sure to filter purchases through the three-legged stool (clothes that work with your body, that fit, and are in your style), specifically the last one ... in your style. Someone just asked me about wide-leg jeans and should they buy them now because they see them everywhere, but they are leery because they are a pear. A better question should be ... "Should I get them because they fit my style?" Denim, like everything else, can highlight styles more or less. A straight or bootcut jeans is going to be more classic. A flare is going to be more edgy. A wide-leg or flare is going to be more boho. A skinny or jogger is going to be more casual. A cropped can be any of the above depending on the style, rinse, and shoes. (Now that doesn't mean someone with classic style can't pull off a wide-leg, but it isn't as easy.) 99% of the time ... we can find a wide-leg jean that will work for your body type. But what we can't do is make that wide-leg jean work for your style. Outfits are built in totality. That includes style too. That being said, I spend a good two months (and trying on jeans like it was my job) to re-work my jean wardrobe this summer. I realized I wanted to lean more into the flares and wide-leg because that is more my style (and after being one year without a period, I had gained 22 pounds and things didn't fit right). I bought four new pairs of jeans - one full-length wide leg (medium rinse), one full-length flare (medium rinse), one full-length flare colored (olive), and one cropped flare (dark rinse). This was a spark my wardrobe needed and I feel so much better it now than I did earlier this summer. (And for the record, the sizes were from 4 - 12. Love women's fashion. #sarcasm) So, evaluate. Take a moment and ask yourself " ... what's working, not working, what do I want to keep, what do I want to get rid of, does this fit my style ... and come up with a plan. I promise, a wardrobe you adore happens more with intentional purchases (but, I promise they can still be FUN).
